Northshore Reconstruct - Project Update 4/24
Good Afternoon Residents,
Construction has continued to progress on Northshore Drive this week. The Utility Contractor has completed the 72" storm sewer outfall at the east end of the project and is now working to complete the 60" storm sewer outfall closer to Penrose. Below are a few photos of this week's progress.
Construction will shift west next week, beginning with additional asphalt pavement removals and construction of a temporary access path for residents on the west end of the project and for Penrose Drive. The new temporary road will be constructed of gravel and/or asphalt millings and will begin on the north side of Northshore Drive from the Elementary School Driveway and end at Penrose. Residents east of Penrose will continue to have access from the east side of the project (near Exit 4). Once the temporary road is complete, the Contractor will extend the removal and grading work limits west of Penrose. As the work area extends west, those residents laying within the new construction limits will receive their mail at the appropriately labeled temporary mailbox farther west.
The utility Contractor plans to complete the 60" storm sewer installation and begin work on smaller diameter storm pipes running between new inlets on Northshore Drive. They will also be installing articulated concrete block mats along the water's edge of McCook Lake to protect against erosion and stabilize the banks as soon as they are delivered to the site.
Various private utility companies may also be working within the project area to relocate facilities out of the way of new construction.
