Northshore Reconstruct - Project Update 4/17/26

Good Afternoon,

Progress is starting to show on the Northshore Drive Reconstruction Project. The Grading contractor has completed most of the major earth moving between Leisure Lane and Penrose Drive over the passed two weeks. Additional fill will be imported over the comings weeks/months. The existing asphalt road surfacing was removed this week, but the granular base course was left in place to provide access for residents inside the construction zone. The Utility contractor completed their first and likely most difficult section of storm sewer pipe, which at 72-inches is the largest diameter pipe on the project. This section will be one of the storm sewer outlets into McCook Lake. Below are a few photos of this week's progress.

The primary focuses for next week will be construction of a new temporary access path on the north side of Northshore and continuation of storm sewer work. The grading crews will be salvaging the existing granular base from Northshore and reusing it for the temporary access. This will allow them to complete the road grading work, while continuing to maintain access to residents within the construction zone. The Utility crews will likely be installing the second storm sewer outlet into McCook Lake before water levels rise to a level where they will impact work.

No major changes in access or traffic control are anticipated over the next week for those outside the current construction limits. Those residents inside the construction limits may see their access shift from the center of the Northshore Drive roadway embankment to the north edge of the embankment on a newly established gravel path.
